Passion For Gold relished the heavy underfoot conditions when running out the easy winner of the Group One Criterium de Saint-Cloud in France on November 14, 2010. A comfortable five length winner of his maiden on debut Passion For Gold then travelled to Ireland where he was a solid third in a Group Two event over a mile before crossing the Channel to Paris. Away well from the gates under Frankie Dettori, Passion For Gold took-up a mid-field position before being asked for maximum effort with two furlongs to run. Extending well, the result was soon over as Passion For Gold forged clear in the closing stages and was able to ease down near the line where he had six lengths to spare over his closest rival, covering the mile and a quarter in 2m19.10s.
