Ibn Khaldun capped off a wonderfully successful season in 2007 by winning the Group One Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster, United Kingdom on October 27, stretching his unbeaten sequence to four in the process. Fourth on his debut, Ibn Khaldun went on to win his maiden and then a nursery before taking out a Group Three event over a mile at Ascot. Facing a strong field in the Racing Post Trophy, he was never too far off a truly run pace and improved to join the leaders inside the two furlong marker. Displaying a great turn of foot he was soon clear to win by a comfortable three lengths from the high class performer City Leader in a time of 1m37.62s.
Ibn Khaldun finished unplaced on his seasonal debut in the 2008 Group One stanjamesuk.com 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket on Saturday, May 3 and unfortunately remained out of action for the remainder of the year.
Ibn khaldun, having his first start for nearly two years, made a pleasing return to the racetrack when filling eighth spot in the Group Two Al Fahidi Fort over nine furlongs at Meydan, Dubai on February 19 2010. Settled in last place of the ten runners by Ahmed Ajtebi, Ibn Khaldun made some late progress in the straight to improve his position near the line.
Ibn Khaldun failed to build on his seasonal debut when he could only manage eighth place in the Group 2 Jebel Hatta over nine furlongs at Meydan on March 4. Ibn Khaldun did not enjoy the best of runs in the straight but was held at the time.
