The scale of Godolphin's global ambitions was illustrated in 2006 with the stable recording eight Group/Grade One victories in five different countries and earning prize-money in excess of US$11 million.
The season began spectacularly with an epic victory by Electrocutionist in the Dubai World Cup at Nad Al Sheba. And it came to a close in similar style with Grade One wins - both in course record times - on successive days in the USA by Ashkal Way and the peerless Discreet Cat.
Ending the campaign with a flawless career record of six wins from six starts, Discreet Cat put up a series of brilliant performances, including a sensational win in the UAE Derby where the vanquished included subsequent Breeders' Cup Classic winner Invasor.
Librettist won France's best mile races, taking both the Prix Jacques le Marois and the Prix du Moulin de Longchamp, while Caradak maintained the stable's unbeaten record in France in 2006 with a thrilling success in the Prix de la Foret. Cherry Mix was another successful international campaigner, running out the easy winner of Group Ones in both Germany and Italy.
During the course of the year, Godolphin again notched up a century of winners worldwide and collected the title of Champion Owner in the UK for a sixth time.
