Khor Dubai became the 200th winner for Godolphin in 2009 when taking the digibet Casino Conditions Stakes at Kempton Park on Wednesday, November 18.

This year is the most successful numerically in Godolphin’s history, easily surpassing the previous best total of 133 victories seen in 2001.

A record 55 Group and Listed wins this year includes 12 Group/Grade One victories such as the success of Mastery, who beat stable companion Kite Wood in the Ladbrokes St Leger at Doncaster in September, as well Music Note’s victories in both the Ballerina Stakes and Beldame Stakes in America.

Recent highlights have included Vale Of York, who gave Godolphin a fourth success in the Breeders’ Cup when winning the Grade One Grey Goose Breeders’ Cup Juvenile at Santa Anita, USA, on November 7, while Passion For Gold was the emphatic six-length winner of the Group One Criterium de Saint-Cloud in France on November 14.

The 200 winners have come from 756 starters worldwide, yielding a strike-rate of 26% and prize money of over US$20 million for the year.

Saeed bin Suroor, the Godolphin trainer, said: "This is the first time that we have had 200 winners worldwide in a year and it is a great result for the Godolphin team. Everybody has worked very hard and I am delighted to reach the 200 mark before the end of the year.

"We have had some very good big-race victories so far and, with runners in the US and Hong Kong still to come, I am hopeful that there is more to come."

Simon Crisford, the Godolphin racing manager, commented: "It has been an excellent performance to reach 200 winners this year and a great credit to the whole team.

"We have a very good team of people and everyone has worked hard - it is a magnificent achievement.

"We have had 12 Group One victories and won over US$20 million in prize money throughout the world.

"This has been a fantastic effort and we have had a good bunch of horses that have enabled Godolphin to reach this landmark."
