Question:Q.  Where did the name Godolphin come from?
Answer:A. All thoroughbreds descend from three Arabian Stallions, the Byerley Turk, Darley Arabian and the Godolphin Arabian. The Maktoum family’s racing operation is named in honour of the Godolphin Arabian while H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s breeding operation is named after the Darley Arabian. Godolphin Entries and Results

Question:Q. When are these pages updated on the website?
Answer:A. Race entries are made most days during the UK racing season and the Entries page is updated accordingly. A race card is available for our runners in the UK and Ireland, to view this information, please visit the Race Ratings section within Inside Track or click on the race name within the Entries page. The Results page is updated immediately after each horse has run with the respective race result. To view the form, and a full result, click on horse’s name.

Seven Stars

Question:Q. How do I enter the Godolphin Seven Stars Competition 2008?
Answer:A. Please sign in or register online at www.godolphin.com between Saturday, 1st March 2008 at 09.00hrs (Dubai time) and Friday, 28th March 2008 at 23.59hrs (Dubai time) then proceed to the Seven Stars section of this website to submit your entry.

Question:Q. What is the Godolphin Seven Stars Competition?
Answer:A. The Seven Stars Competition is a free to enter on-line horseracing competition. All you have to do is pick 14 Godolphin horses to represent you during the 2008 season and have seven of these active in your stable at any one time. Your active horses will earn points according to their performances on racetracks around the world, giving you the chance to win one of the amazing Seven Stars prizes.

Question:Q. How old must I be to enter the competition?
Answer:A. Entrants must be aged 18 or over on Friday, 28th March 2008 to enter the competition. If an entrant is aged 17 during the entry period Saturday, 1st March 2008 (09.00hrs Dubai time) up to and including the Friday, 28th March 2008 (23.59hrs Dubai time) but will turn 18 prior to the start of the competition (29th March 2008), they will also be able to enter the competition.

Question:Q. When does the competition commence and conclude?
Answer:A. The competition commences on Saturday, 29th March 2008 with the Dubai World Cup and it concludes on Sunday, 14th December 2008 with the Hong Kong International races.

Question:Q. How many points will be awarded if one of my Seven Stars Selections wins a Bonus Race?
Answer:A. You will be awarded 50 points. For further details, please refer to How It Works within the Seven Stars section of 'Godolphin Extra'.

Question:Q.  When is the Seven Stars Leaderboard updated?
Answer:A. The Seven Stars Leaderboard is updated after the official race result has been confirmed. This is usually done within 24hrs of each race.

Question:Q. What happens if several entrants have the same number of points at the end of the competition?
Answer:A. In the event of a tie, prizes will be awarded according to the time of receipt of the entry i.e. the entrant whose entry is received closest to the commencement of the competition entry period on Saturday, 1st March 2008 at 09.00hrs (Dubai time) will be determined to be the winner.

Question:Q.  What happens if one of my Seven Stars selections is transferred or retired from Godolphin?
Answer:A. In the event that one of your Seven Stars selections has been retired or transferred from Godolphin an asterisk (*) will appear along side the horse’s name and an accompanying message on the page will inform the entrant that the horse is now inactive within the competition.

Answer:A. You can change your email address and password by signing in on the top horizontal menu bar and then clicking on the Update My Details link.

Question:Q. Can I unsubscribe to the competition?
Answer:A. Yes, you may opt out of the automated emails by updating your preferences within My Stable of the Seven Stars section. This only unsubscribes you from receiving automated emails and does not remove your entry from the 2008 Seven Stars Competition.

Question:Q.  Is the Godolphin 2008 Seven Stars Competition operated in conjunction with the Emirates Skywards programme?
Answer:A. The 2008 Seven Stars Competition is not operated in conjunction with any Emirates Skywards programme or promotion and any points earned during the competition do not attribute to and cannot be transferred into Skywards miles.

Question:Q. Do I receive prize money every time one of my Seven Stars selections wins?
Answer:A. No, entrants do not receive prize money each time one of their Seven Stars Selections wins. However, the entrant with most points at the end of each Challenge period will receive US$7,000.

Question:Q. How will I know if one of my selections is due to run?
Answer:A. Whenever one of your seven active horses is due to run during the period of the competition - from Saturday, 29th March 2008 to Sunday, 14th December 2008 - we will email you to let you know that it is running.

Question:Q. What are the prizes for the 2008 Competition?
Answer:A. The Seven Stars Competition 2008 offers some amazing cash prizes throughout the competition.

Overall Prizes
  • 1st Prize - US$50,000, plus two business-class return air tickets with Emirates Airline to Dubai (if required) and five nights in a luxury Dubai hotel for two persons.
  • 2nd Prize - US$25,000
  • 3rd Prize - US$15,000
  • Challenge Prizes (4 in total) - The winner of each Challenge will receive US $7,000.

Question:Q. What are the Challenge Competitions?
Answer:A. There will be four individual Challenge contests throughout the 2008 Seven Stars Competition. The highest scoring entrant at the end of each individual Challenge will be awarded a cash prize of US$7,000. Points earned in each Challenge are not carried forward to the next Challenge. However at the end of each Challenge, the entrant’s score will be added to his/her overall points total for the purpose of the main competition.

Question:Q.  What are the swap windows?
Answer:A. A swap window allows the entrant to change their seven horses and replace them by using other horses from their original stable of 14.

Answer:A. There will be three swap windows during the course of the competition period.
First Swap Window
Sunday, 25th May 2008 at 00.00hrs (Dubai time) to Saturday, 31st May 2008 at 23.59hrs (Dubai time)

Second Swap Window
Friday, 25th July 2008 at 00.00hrs (Dubai time) to Thursday, 31st July 2008 at 23.59hrs (Dubai time)

Final Swap Window
Wednesday, 24th September 2008 at 00.00hrs (Dubai time) to Tuesday, 30th September 2008 at 23.59hrs (Dubai time)

Question:Q. How do I swap my horses for each Challenge?
Answer:A. The following instructions will assist you to swap your horses for each of the Challenges.
  1. 1. Sign in at the top of any page on the site using your email address and password that you submitted when you entered the competition in March.
  2. 2. Visit the Seven Stars section within Godolphin Extra.
  3. 3. Click on the My Stable link on the left hand navigation bar.
  4. 4. You will then see the Seven Stars Swap Window link below the My Stable link.
  5. 5. Click on the Seven Stars Swap Window link and you will then be able to swap your horses by following the online instructions.

Question:Q. Can I swap my horses more than once during the transfer window?
Answer:A. You will only be allowed to change your seven horses once within each transfer window.

Question:Q. Can I change my original 14 horses within the transfer window for a completely new stable of 14 horses?
Answer:A. No, horses exchanged during the transfer window can only be swapped from horses in the users’ original stable of 14.

Question:Q. If I have a lucky Dip entry, can I swap my horses during the transfer window?
Answer:A. Yes, it is possible to swap your horses. You can manually exchange the horses in your stable or select a new Lucky Dip of active horses from your original 14.

Question:Q. Do I have to swap my horses during a swap window?
Answer:A. No, it is not mandatory to swap your horses during a swap window. You can retain your original selection of seven horses throughout the competition.

Question:Q. Can I change from a Lucky Dip Entry to a Select Your Seven Stars Entry?
Answer:A. No, a Lucky Dip entry is non-transferable to a Select Your Seven Stars entry.

Stable Tours

Question:Q. Does Godolphin hold stable tours/visits at their stables in Dubai and/or Newmarket?
Answer:A. We are sorry but we do not hold tours/visits at Godolphin's Stables in Newmarket and/or at Al Quoz Stables, Dubai.
It may be worthwhile contacting the Dubai Racing Club as they may be able to organise a visit to another prominent yard in Dubai or alternatively, the National Horseracing Museum in Newmarket organise stable tours of other training establishments in the area.
